OUR MISSION
For a very long time, a group of friends and progressive music enthusiasts have been working hard at organizing a music festival in Montreal, and from 2006 to 2009, it became a reality: Le Festival des Musiques Progressives de Montréal (the Montreal Progressive Music Festival), a great progressive music festival showcasing local artists and international acts.
Quebec has made many important contributions to worldwide culture and more specifically the progressive music scene, since the late 1960's. Because of Montreal's special culture and vibrant music scene, several stakeholders have come together to form in 2006 Le Festival des Musiques Progressives de Montreal (FMPM).
The founders' vision for FMPM is to work closely with Quebec artists, promoters and passionate fans to create a friendly, engaging event that will enrich the progressive music scene, by exposing more local artists to more fans, and enabling deeper and more lasting connections to be made.
The continuing mission of FMPM is to help promote the music created by these innovative artists from Quebec, both on a local and international level, and give them the opportunity to perform live onstage, thus, serving progressive music artists and their fans by creating special cultural and musical experiences that inspire those who participate.
And although the festival itself has run its course, the FMPM team continues to present concerts throughout the years, including Steve Hackett, Renaissance, Carl Palmer, Babe Ruth, Emerson and Lake, Asia and many many more to come!
